Today in class we had a speaker come in to discuss Social Media and online presence. His name is Jesse Miller (https://www.mediatedreality.com/)

He mentioned that for us, as teachers, we have to adapt our privacy and public appearance to meet with teacher standards. It was very intimidating in terms of how much surveillance occurs and how permanent online photos really are. Additionally, how much we may have to be aware of normal everyday activities that might not be appropriate if a student was to see you or snap a photo.

Something that he also talked about was video games which are super cool. It was so interesting to hear about all of the careers that could stem from video gaming. Additionally, it was super cool to be able to see how “healthy” video games can be and how many lessons they can teach!

Definitely something important to be considering moving forward with posting on social media and pursuing a career in education.
